Una de las últimas en llegar a la pequeña fiesta fue Alice in Beautyland, un artículo deliciosamente dibujado por Dorothe Carey. El artículo semanal debutó el 8 de enero de 1938 como parte de una página dominical de consejos de belleza sindicada por King Features Syndicate. La primera entrega, sin embargo, no era tanto una tira como una colección de ilustraciones individuales sobre diversos temas relacionados con la belleza. En la segunda semana, sin embargo, Carey cambió un poco el rumbo y empezó a unir las ilustraciones en una pequeña historia. Algunas de las tiras son más parecidas a una tira que otras. El ejemplo de arriba es más “strip”, ya que seguimos la rutina de aseo de Alice cuando se prepara para un día en la playa. Menos parecido a una tira es el episodio inferior, que tiene poco sentido de la narración, sino más bien una lista de consejos para cuidar el pelo corto.
